Good morning!

Summer time! It refreshes our daily lives, just as the sun rises to greet us each morning. A time to enjoy simple pleasures like a long walk in the park, laughter with loved ones and friends beneath a clear blue sky, the taste of ice cream, and the warmth of the sun on your skin. Let us make the most of these bright days by slowing down, appreciating the small things, creating memories, and finding happiness in the beauty of each day.

ANNOUCEMENTS:

Faith & Theology Thursdays at 10AM: Do you have questions about scripture or our beliefs and how they apply in our daily lives? Gather to discuss various topics, including the hard ones, that will help us understand better our walk through this world. We invite you to come and share your thoughts every Thursday at 10AM in the Narthex.

Labyrinth with Ann – Sunday, June 30 at 11AM: Would you like to try praying in another way? On June 30, take a walk with Ann through the church garden’s labyrinth. We encourage everyone to use it, try it, and have a spiritual encounter with God.

CKPC Kids Graduation – Sunday, June 30 at 1PM: We will celebrate students graduating from Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 9 and Grade 12! St. Giles members are welcome to join the ceremony service at 1pm. We also have time to give gifts and flowers to our students if they wish to participate!

Wild Grace – Wednesday, July 3 at 6:30PM: A time of reflection and connection with the land and with one another by enjoying and being present with the “wild” world. A time of learning, a time of contemplation and reflection, and a time of fellowship. Come and join us at Confederation Park on Wednesday, July 3 from 6:30 -7:15PM (meet in the St. Giles Presbyterian Church Parking Lot).  All are welcome!

Stampede Brunch- July 7: St. Giles will host our annual Stampede Brunch after the service. If you wish to help by offsetting the cost of food for the Stampede Brunch, please clearly label your donation when giving through e-transfer or the offering plate. Thank you.

Music Suggestion: Do you have a favourite hymn that speaks to your heart? If so, please share your music suggestion through the church office and we will incorporate them into our worship services. Together, let’s support Esther and our choir as they continue to create meaningful worship through music.

Calling all Gardeners: Anyone who would enjoy tending to our gardens can contact Susan Carmichael. Also, if you are dividing your perennials this spring, please consider labeling and donating them to the church.

Service in the Park – Opportunities to Volunteer: We need volunteers to facilitate services in the park in July. If you are interested, please contact Chandra.

COMMUNION SERVICE: On Sunday, June 23, at 10 AM, we will have a communion service. It’s a time for everyone to come together and share the bread and wine. All are invited to join us for this meaningful occasion.

AFTERNOON SERVICES: For those who are unable to attend morning services, there is an afternoon service at 1:30PM every Sunday at CKPC led by Rev. Chandra Mannix. Everyone is encouraged to come!

June 23, Fifth Sunday after Pentecost: Rev. Chandra and Esther, our choir director, will lead our service today. These week’s scripture reading are from Isaiah 49:8-9, 2 Corinthians 6:1-10, and Mark 4:35-41. God’s promises stand firm and true, guiding us through life’s storms with unwavering faith. In times of challenges, let us recall Isaiah’s promise that God’s favor sustains and strengthens us. With hearts open to God’s grace, we walk through difficulties knowing that His strength calms the waves of doubt, providing us serenity and stability.

SCRIPTURE PASSAGE FOR REFLECTION:

O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come. Your power and your righteousness, O God, reach the high heavens.                                                                             – Psalm 71:17-18

WEEKLY QUOTE:

“Theological reflection is a way of seeing the world, of being able to imagine life in relationship to God’s story, of linking the intellectual content of faith to its everyday practice….and despite our marvelous intellectual capabilities, there will always be things we cannot not know. In that gap, God breathes, and there, we experience awe.”

Diana Butler Bass (2006. Pgs. 187 and 193)
