Good morning!
Every day is a precious gift! Pause to cherish the small moments we may often miss, like the warmth of a sunny day or the kindness of a friend’s words. Gratitude allows us to see the beauty in our lives and fills our hearts with joy, especially in times of difficulty. By shifting our focus to what we already have rather than what we desire, we invite happiness and abundance into our lives.
Choir rehearsals concluded last week and will resume on Thursday nights in September. New members are always welcome!
ANNOUCEMENTS:
THANK YOU: Thank you to everyone who attended the Pancake Breakfast last week. And special thanks to the more than 30 volunteers who made it all come together. What a treat to enjoy each other’s company under three different shade canopies. We were blessed with a beautiful, warm sunny day, and the shade was very welcome. And a BIG thank you to Susan Carmichael for leading the team!
Faith & Theology Thursdays at 10AM: Do you have questions about scripture or our beliefs and how they apply in our daily lives? Gather to discuss various topics, including the hard ones, that will help us understand better our walk through this world. We invite you to come and share your thoughts every Thursday at 10AM in the Narthex.
Vacation Bible School at Westminster: Once again this year, we have been invited to join Westminster for their VBS. Come to Vacation Bible School August 12th to 16th as a participant, crew leader or junior crew leader! Deadline to register is August 5th. Registration for this exciting adventure is now live. Cost is $60 per child. There is also a form available for volunteers. Please visit VBS Westminster website
Save the Date: Wear White Picnic in the Garden Fundraiser on August 11, 2024, at 4PM in the St. Giles Garden. Details to follow.
Music Suggestion: Do you have a favourite hymn that speaks to your heart? If so, please share your music suggestion through the church office and we will incorporate them into our worship services. Together, let’s support Esther and our choir as they continue to create meaningful worship through music.
AFTERNOON SERVICES: For those who are unable to attend morning services, there is an afternoon service at 1:30PM every Sunday at CKPC led by Rev. Chandra Mannix. Everyone is encouraged to come!
July 14, Eight Sunday after Pentecost: Rev. Chandra and Esther, our choir director, will lead our service today. This week’s biblical readings come from 2 Samuel 6:1-15, Psalm 24, and Ephesians 1:3-14. When we bring our hearts to God, like David did with the Ark, we experience great joy and blessing. Psalm 24 reminds us that the earth and everything on it belong to the Lord. Ephesians 1:3-14 affirms that we are chosen and blessed, and with this faith, we can face each day with gratitude and hope.
Weekly Quote:
“Christian worship, though graced with appropriate reverence, need not be solemn. The English writer, C.S. Lewis referred to this as the “great dance”. Every act of worship, no matter how private or public, how discreet or elaborate, enacts God’s dream for the world. By opening ourselves to sense the awe and wonder of the dance, we might glimpse the ripples of God.”
Diana Butler Bass (2006. Pg. 177-178) – Christianity For the Rest of Us
SCRIPTURE PASSAGE FOR REFLECTION:
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1: 13-14
