Good morning!
Each day offers us a fresh chance to welcome God into the ordinary moments of our lives—with a kind word, a quiet prayer, or a heart open to those around us. In the middle of our busyness, we are invited not only to do for God, but to be with Him—to pause, breathe, and listen for His voice. When we balance action with presence, service with stillness, we begin to live a faith that is not just active, but deeply rooted in love, trust, and peace.
Wear White Picnic – Sunday August 10 – 4PM
Pull out those whites and sunscreen! Once again, St. Giles is hosting a Wear White Picnic. Please bring a salad or cold plate to add to the potluck table. Join us at 4 for games in the backyard of the church with a time of food and fellowship to follow. Tables and chairs will be set up. Please bring your own dinnerware and cutlery. Donations will be gratefully received for the Progress Fund. (Sign up in the narthex to help us know set up numbers.)
Rev. Chandra Appointed Interim Moderator at Centennial Church
Rev. Chandra has been named the Interim Moderator of Centennial Church. She will be supporting them in their time of being without a minister, moderating their session, providing leadership as they step into preparations of seeking a minister, and will occasionally perform funerals, baptism and occasional preaching. Please hold Centennial Church and Reverend Chandra in your prayers as we support them during this transition and transformation time.
Card Tables Needed
Do you have a card table at home that you would like to donate to St. Giles? Or…please watch for them as you browse Garage Sales this summer. Thanks for your help!
BIBLE STUDIES: Every Monday at 7 PM and Every Wednesday at 10:15 AM
AFTERNOON SERVICES: For those who are unable to attend morning services, there is an afternoon study and prayer at 1:30PM every Sunday at St. Giles led by Rev. Chandra.
July 13 – 5th Sunday after Pentecost: This Sunday, our service will be led by our minister Reverend Chandra, with Wayne Hubbard as our guest organist and Jason Gaskarth, one of our dedicated session elders. Malcolm Edwards, our choir director, and the choir are currently on holiday.
This week’s scripture reading Genesis 18: 1-10a, Colossians 1:15-23, and Luke 10:38-42 invite us into a life of faithful presence—being open to God in both action and stillness. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to be like Martha—caught up in doing. But these scriptures offer a gentle reminder: God meets us not only in what we do, but in how we receive Him—with trust, humility, and love.
SCRIPTURE PASSAGE FOR REFLECTION:
“But one thing is necessary, only one; for Mary has chosen the good portion,
which will not be taken away from her.”
-Luke 10:42
